Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 12th, 2026
Hey, this is my personal site, and I want to be upfront about what happens to your data if you visit, comment, or reach out. Nothing complicated: this page explains what I collect, why, and what rights you have over it under GDPR.
1. Who’s Behind This Site
So far, it’s just me:
Ghali Alami Merrouni
Website: https://sidighali.com
Email: sidighali.blog@gmail.com
If anything here is unclear, just email me — I’ll answer directly, not through a support ticket system.
2. Information You Choose to Provide
Comments
If you leave a comment on one of my posts, WordPress may collect:
Your name
Your email address
Your website address, if you provide one
The content of your comment
Your IP address and browser information for security and spam prevention
Your name and comment may be publicly visible once the comment is approved. Your email address is not publicly displayed.
Comments are stored through WordPress as part of the website’s normal operation.
Contact Form
The Services page contains a contact form for collaboration and other inquiries.
When you submit the form, I receive an email containing the information you have provided, such as your name, email address and message.
I use this information to read and respond to your inquiry and, where relevant, discuss a potential collaboration or service.
Please avoid submitting sensitive personal information through the form unless it is necessary for your request.
3. Why I’m Allowed to Process This
Under GDPR, I rely on:
Your consent — for example, when you tick the comment cookie box
Legitimate interest — replying to inquiries and comments and keeping the site secure
Legal obligation — where I need to keep information to meet legal, tax, accounting, or invoicing requirements
4. What I Use It For
I may use personal information for:
Replying to messages sent through the Services page inquiry form
Displaying and replying to comments on articles
Following up on freelance or service inquiries you start
Keeping the website secure and functioning properly
Maintaining backups of the website and its database
I don’t sell your data.
5. How the Site Runs
To be transparent about the tools behind the scenes:
Hosting: the site is hosted on Hostinger, which stores the site’s files and any data submitted through it, including comments and form submissions. It also handdles the website backups.
Elementor — the page builder used to design the site. It is used to create and manage the site’s pages and does not independently mean that visitor analytics are being collected.
Angie (by Elementor) — an AI assistant I use to help build and manage site content. It is a site-management tool rather than a visitor analytics tool.
WS Form Lite — powers the inquiry form on the Services page. When you submit it, your name, email, and message reach me through my WordPress dashboard and are also sent to my email, sidighali.blog@gmail.com.
LiteSpeed Cache — helps speed up page loading and provides caching and performance features. It is not being used by me as a visitor analytics tool.
Rank Math SEO — is used to manage search-engine optimization, including SEO titles, descriptions, sitemaps, structured data, and related SEO settings. I am not currently using Rank Math’s analytics or other optional tracking features to collect visitor analytics.
Comments — when you comment, I’m notified in my WordPress dashboard and at sidighali.blog@gmail.com. By default, WordPress may check a hashed version of your email against Gravatar to show a profile picture next to your comment — see Automattic’s Privacy Policy.
No analytics or advertising tools are currently running on this site.
6. Cookies
The comment section contains an optional checkbox:
“Save my name, email, and website in this browser for the next time I comment.”
If you select this option, WordPress uses a cookie to remember these details in your browser so that you do not have to enter them again when leaving another comment.
This is optional. If you leave the checkbox unchecked, these details will not be saved for this purpose.
The website may also use cookies that are necessary for WordPress and other website features to function properly.
Some plugins may also use technically necessary cookies or similar technologies to provide their functions.
You can manage or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings.
7. Third-Party Links
You’ll find links on this site to my LinkedIn profile, and similar external pages. Once you click through, you’re on their site and subject to their own privacy policies — I have no control over what they collect.
8. How Long I Keep Things
Inquiries submitted through the form: kept only as long as needed to reply and follow up, then deleted where there is no continuing business or legal reason to keep them.
Comments: kept indefinitely so the conversation stays visible on the article — but I’ll delete yours on request where possible and subject to any legal or legitimate reason to retain them.
Client/business records: kept as long as Portuguese law requires.
Website backups: backup copies may be retained for as long as they are needed for website security, recovery, and maintenance. Older backups may be deleted or replaced as new backups are created.
9. Your Rights
You can ask me to:
Show you what data I have on you
Fix anything inaccurate
Delete your data
Restrict or object to how I use it
Export your data in a portable format
Withdraw consent at any time, if consent was the basis for processing
Just email sidighali.blog@gmail.com and I’ll respond to your request.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the relevant data protection authority if you believe your personal data is being handled unlawfully.
10. Where Your Data Is Stored
This site is hosted through Hostinger. Personal information submitted through the website may therefore be processed as part of Hostinger’s hosting infrastructure.
Website backups created by Hostinger are currently kept within the website’s own hosting environment and are not connected to an external cloud backup service.
Where I use service providers that process personal data on my behalf, they may process information on infrastructure located outside the EU. Where required by GDPR, appropriate safeguards, such as EU Standard Contractual Clauses or other lawful transfer mechanisms, will apply.
11. Children
This website is not specifically directed at children.
I do not knowingly seek to collect personal information from them. If you believe that a child has provided personal information through this website and that information should be removed, please contact me.
12. If This Page Changes
I’ll update the “Last updated” date above whenever something changes here — worth a glance now and then if you’re curious.
